We are very pleased to report that a new stone has been installed to officially commemorate the refurbished memorial gates that welcome visitors to Sunbury Cricket Club.

The iron gates were erected in 1963 in memory of Harold Wood, one of the founding members of SCC. Harold died young having suffered a heart attack during a match whilst batting for Sunbury.

Harold's son Les was himself a club legend and gave decades of quiet and loyal service to the club both on and off the field, right up until his death in 2025.

Les initiated the project to refurbish the Harold Wood gates and we are delighted that, with his family’s blessing, the renamed gates now stand to honour both father and son.
