This summer, Sunbury Cricket Club will be running a series of cricket coaching camps led by the club’s Director of Cricket, John Maunders. A former professional cricketer with a career that included playing for England U19s, Middlesex, Leicestershire, and Essex, John brings a wealth of experience and expertise. John is an incredibly experienced coach who has been running cricket camps for over 15 years and is regarded as one of the best junior coaches in the country.

John will be assisted by a talented coaching team, including Australia U19 World Cup-winning captain and Sydney Thunder player, Hugh Weibgen. It is an excellent opportunity for young cricketers to work with coaches who have played, or are currently playing, at a very high level of the game.

The camps are designed to cater to a wide range of ages and abilities. Certain activities will be suitable for all participants to take part in as a single group, regardless of experience level. At other times, players will be split into smaller groups based on ability, ensuring more focused and tailored coaching.

Throughout the camps, players will work on all three aspects of the game: batting, bowling and fielding. These skills will be developed through a combination of technical drills, skill-based activities, and match scenarios. Both technical and tactical skills will be a focus, helping players to improve not only how they play, but also how they think about the game.

The camps provide a fun, welcoming, and safe environment, making them the perfect setting for young cricketers to develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the game under the guidance of outstanding coaches.

The camps will run from 10am – 4pm for 4 weeks throughout the summer at Sunbury CC:
Location: Sunbury Cricket Club
Time: 10:00 – 16:00
Week 1: 28th July – 1st August
Week 2: 11th – 15th August
Week 3: 18th – 22nd August
Week 4: 25th – 29th August

The cost is £50 per day, with sibling discounts available.

All participants need to bring a packed lunch and a bottle of water (there will be plenty of opportunities to refill water bottles throughout the day).
Players aged U8+ can attend.
Some hard ball protective equipment can be provided, but players should bring their own kit if they have it.
Non-Sunbury CC members are welcome.
