Sunday 15th June
A busy week began with the U8s defeating Staines & Laleham by 50 runs. Harri Kurubaran top scored with 12 runs, while Ralph Klein produced the superb bowling figures of 3 wickets for 1 run off 2 overs.

It was also a solid win for the U9s, who overcame Hampton Hill. Agamjot Behniwal led the Sunbury bowling attack with an excellent 2-1 from his 2 overs, and Samarveer Singh hit 19 off 15 balls to round out a 29-run win.

Such is the squad depth, there was also another fixture played by the U9s at the same time, and it was a similarly convincing result. At Twickenham, seven Sunbury bowlers took wickets – Varin Sanapati claiming 2-10 – and Cheith Pathiranage crunched 22 with the bat to help see out an 82-run victory.

A much closer game saw the U10s beat Shepperton by 9 runs. Captain Logan Cheung scored an unbeaten 14 runs, with Nathanael Hare impressing with his 2-10 off 3 overs.

At the opposite end of the victory spectrum were the U10 Girls, who dispatched Esher by a margin of 103 runs. Tabitha Klein produced the astounding figures of 2 overs, 2 maidens and 3 wickets, while with the bat Hrisha Shah hit a run a ball 24.

Unfortunately, the U11s lost in the last over to Woking & Horsell, despite a composed innings from skipper Adarsh Lowme, who retired not out on 31, and four different Sunbury bowlers picking up a wicket.

As with the U9s, the U11s also fielded a second team (against Weybridge) and this time they were victorious. Jack Vaney, Mahad Hashmi and Eesa Hayat all took 2 wickets, as Sunbury bowled Weybridge out for 53. It was not a simple chase, however, as 5 wickets fell but a composed 21 from Shagandeep Singh saw us over the line.

The U13s rounded off a successful Sunday by beating Spencer by 95 runs. Lucas Cholewa and Arpan Singh both retired after passing 50 in just 25 and 27 balls, respectively, as Sunbury made 215 from 25 overs. While the wickets were shared between six bowlers, Aarthik Lowme was the standout with 2-14 off 3 overs.

Monday 16th June
Sadly, the U12s lost to Indian Gymkhana by 8 wickets, despite Charlie Rice making a brilliant half century and Lenny Connors and Arhaan Khan bowling well up top, each removing one Indian Gym opener.

The less said about the U13s’ trip to Old Merchant Taylors the better, as Sunbury were bowled out for 42 and the hosts knocked off the required runs two down inside 9 overs.

The U14 Girls had a good 35-run win against Esher: Mollie Wells and Sophie Byrne both retired not out on 30 runs to get Sunbury to the total of 171, and Lilian Cattley did well with the ball, bowling 4 overs and taking 2 wickets for 18 runs.

Tuesday 17th June
The U10s had a great win away at Teddington, with Raff Tindall and Samardeep Singh making 24 and 28, respectively. Henry Armstrong opened the bowling and bowled outstandingly – his 3 overs seeing him pick up 4 wickets.

It was a tough day at the office for the U11s, who lost by 9 wickets to Teddington in the South Cup Final. While Oli Birch (20) and Dhamanveer Singh (27) laid a good platform and Divam Jain (21*) provided some impetus at the end of the innings, Teddington chased down Sunbury’s 107 inside 17 overs.

Despite an excellent bowling performance from Grace Mansfield, who took 1-14 off 4, and an opening partnership of 97 runs between Liam O’Connor (41) and Eshan Patel (47), the U14s fell 6 runs short of victory against Indian Gymkhana.

Charlie Maunders (54 rtno) and Rishaan Mehmi (55 rtno) both scored fabulous half centuries as the U15s beat Eastcote by 18 runs in the County Cup Semi Final. Alfie Bloomfield was outstanding with the ball in taking 1-18 off his 4 overs and Josh Cholewa picked up 2 wickets to see out an important win.

Emma Gillespie starred as the U15Bs beat Barnes by 8 runs. In a low scoring game that was reduced to 16 overs a side, Emma hit an unbeaten 33 and also claimed 2 wickets for 17 runs from her 3 overs.

Wednesday 18th June
The U14Bs beat Walton-on-Thames by 21 runs thanks to some destructive batting from openers Arjan Thandi and Avir Patel, who both retired not out, scoring 43 off 30 and 42 off just 17, respectively.

It was a resounding 88-run win against Richmond for the U15 Girls. Eloise Phillips and Rhythm Gala started the Sunbury batting innings off outstandingly well, with Eloise scoring 51 off 39 balls and Rhythm smacking a phenomenal 65-ball 98 not out. With the ball, Aniya Chadha picked up 3 wickets and Lilian Cattley conceded just 7 runs in her 4 overs and took 2 poles.

Also facing Richmond were the U17s, and they too completed a comfortable win. There were good contributions with the bat throughout, with Tom Goldney top scoring with 49 from 43 as Sunbury posted 185. Albert Connors bowled brilliantly (as always) – taking 3 for 10 in 3 overs – to help bowl out the visitors for 105.

Thursday 19th June
The U13s dispatched Sheen Park, as they bowled the opposition out for 77: Aryan Mitter returning figures of 3-11 off 3 overs. The target was then chased down without loss in the 10th over, with the two R Gala’s – Ridhaan and Rhythm – scoring 32 and 34, respectively.

It was an unfortunate 9-run defeat for the U15 Surrey team against Malden Wanderers. However, Nishkarsh Jain had an excellent game, bowling 2 overs for 1 run and picking up 1 wicket as well as striking 32 opening the batting.

Friday 20th June
For the third time this season the U15s beat Teddington, with Ibby Hussain making an excellent impact with bat and ball. Taking 1-16 off 4 overs, Ibby helped restrict the visitors to 147, before hitting 27 not out. There were also valuable contributions from Ayush Obhrai, who finished unbeaten on 42, and Harry Kerridge, who smacked 33 from 20 balls, as Sunbury chased down the target with 7 wickets in hand and 16 balls to spare.

Saturday 21st June
The U10 Girls were just edged out by 4 runs to Esher, despite a good innings down the order from Tabitha Klein (11), and both Jiya Johal and Harriet Strelitz picking up 2 wickets in their 2 overs.

Sunday 22nd June
The U8s squeaked past Weybridge by 7 runs: Kevin Burbage took 2 wickets and opener Lucas Sillwood-Brown top scored with 14 runs.

In a six a side tournament, the U8s played four games, won two and lost two. In their first game against Ealing, they were defeated by 58 runs, but William Podbury did brilliantly to take 3 wickets. A 28-run victory over North London followed: Varun Mahadevan top scored with 11 and Ralph Klein claimed 3 wickets for just 3 runs. Another win followed, this time against Shepards Bush by a margin of 29 runs: William Podbury taking 1-1 off 1 and Finlay Pugh making 9 with the bat. The final game against Esher sadly ended in a 24-run loss but Ralph Klein bowled a magnificent over to copy his teammate from the previous game and take 1-1.

A comfortable 67-run win was achieved by the U9s against Teddington: Varin Sanapati showed excellence with bat and ball in taking 3 wickets and scoring 26 runs. Also joining him in making 26 were captain Cheith Pathiranage and Rayan Kotecha.

In a 6 over per side game, the U9 Girls narrowly beat Weybridge by 5 runs, with Naina Virdee contributing and impressive 16 runs and Scarlett Pidgley conceding just 4 runs from her over.

Their second game of the day produced the same outcome, as the U9 Girls got the better of Thames Ditton by 20 runs. Arabella Browne, Amelia London and Isabelle Jocelyn all scored 10 runs and took a wicket each.

Away at Camberley, the U10s eased to a 73-run win: Neel Mitter top scored with 9 runs and picked up 2 wickets in his bowling spell. Zachery Sharma had a phenomenal day out, taking a fifer in just 2 overs with an economy rate of 1.5.

Alas, the U11s fell to a 9-run defeat at Old Woking: Yousef Mohammad Zahir and Shaurya Panigrahy both took 2 wickets, with the latter also retiring not out on 31.

It was a more successful day for the U12s, who completed a straightforward win over Chertsey. Both Sunbury openers – Shlok Trivedi and Deben Ganguly – retired not out on 30 and 32, respectively, while Shlok also had a day out with the ball, taking 4 wickets in just 2 overs.

Captain Harri Wheeler led from the front, as the U12 Girls brushed aside Spencer in a 5-wicket win. With the ball, Harri picked up 1 wicket for just 3 runs in her 2 overs, while also taking a catch and affecting a run out in the field, before going on to retire not out on 30 from 21 balls.

The U13s fell the wrong side of a very tight affair against Old Rutlishians, who won by 1 wicket, in spite of some brilliant batting from Maximus Williams, who retired not out on 51, and excellent bowling from Max Page, who picked up 3 wickets in his 5 overs.

Agonisingly, the U13Bs also suffered a 1-wicket defeat, this time at the hands of Ham & Petersham. The loss came despite opener Oli Birch carrying his bat for 32 off 27 balls and Jeevan Johal taking a magnificent hat trick in his only over.

Evidently, 13 was an unlucky number as the U13 Girls lost out to Banstead by 15 runs. Harri Wheeler, playing her second game of the day for her second team, took 2 wickets in 4 overs and scored 43 runs, while Rhythm Gala crunched a magnificent 85 from 51 balls.

A valiant effort from the U15 Girls was sadly not enough to beat an incredibly strong Ashtead side, as they lost their cup match by 18 runs. Skipper Emma Gillespie put in a great all-round performance, taking 2-29 from 5 overs and scoring 30 runs. Eloise Phillips also showed her class with the bat, scoring 65 from 45 balls, while Rhythm Gala – another one to play two matches for two teams on the same day – struck a brisk 25-ball 35.
