What a Middlesex South Cup-Final for the U14s against Indian Gymkhana! The U14s won the toss and elected to bat first, and after a rough innings scoring 104 runs, the game was still anyone’s to be won.
Joshua Cholewa (4-0-21-1) and Alfie Granger (4-0-28-1) opened the bowling with neat spells, keeping the score to 16/0 after 4 overs. Charlie Maunders (4-0-14-0) and Albert Conners (4-0-14-1) kept up the healthy start bowling many unplayable deliveries before Albert Connors took the first wicket in the 11th over at a score of 43. Jack Marland (4-0-20-0) bowled 4 fabulous overs at the death, which left Joshua Cholewa bowling the last over of the game defending 9 runs.
A strong start to the over with 2 wickets saw the game swing into Sunbury’s favour (Indian Gymkhana: 8 runs to win off 4 balls). Joshua Cholewa continued the over beautifully with 2 runs coming on both the third and fourth delivery and 1 run and a run-out coming off the fifth. This left Indian Gymkhana needing 3 runs off the last ball. Joshua Cholewa came steaming in and beat the bat on the final ball, leaving the U14s as Middlesex South Cup winners! Brilliant!
