The U8s took home a confident 52-run win against Valley End, with the whole team bowling economically and Harri Kurubaran hitting 23 runs, including two sixes.
Also victorious were the U9s, as they thrashed Wycombe House by a remarkable 102 runs. It was an excellent batting performance, especially from Seymuthu Thommadura who hit an amazing 25 off only 10 balls, and after his batting efforts, Seymuthu then went on to take 3 wickets for 2 runs during his 2 overs.
At Woking & Horsell, the U10s came out on top by a margin of 67 runs – Sunbury’s net score of 320 proved too much for the hosts.
Another smashing took place, this time at Staines & Laleham at the hands of the U11s, as they won by 123 runs. A solid batting performance, in which Jack Vaney top scored with 30 not out, saw Sunbury post 187 and tight bowling secured the win. Samardeep Singh bowled particularly well, picking up 3-4 during his 2 overs.
There were two U11s sides playing simultaneously, and there was another victory in the second game, albeit a much narrower one, as Chertsey were beaten by 9 runs. Shaurya Panigrahy retired not out on 34 and Rajveer Behniwal cracked 28* off only 13 balls, while Viaan Nichan bowled tidily, keeping the opposition to just 7 runs in his 2 overs.
Unfortunately, the U11 Girls were edged out by 18 runs against Roehampton, despite a good innings of 24 off 13 balls by Harriet Strelitz, and Daisy Smith only conceding 5 runs from her 2 overs.
The U12s beat Woking & Horsell by 17 runs after bowling the hosts out for 106 runs. Archie Day and Oli Birch both retired not out on 32 runs and also picked up 1 and 2 wickets, respectively. Zorarver Dhillon also bowled well in taking 2-9 in 2 overs.
In a crazy game, the U13s tied with Roehampton: Ridhaan Gala smashing 51 off only 38 balls and Vivaan Senapati taking 2 wickets during his 2 overs. Arpanjot Behniwal took the final wicket with the scores level to secure a dramatic result.
Monday 30th June
A remarkable feat was achieved by the U10s in their 84-run victory over Wycombe House, as it ensured they won 10 out of 10 games and took the league title. Dhamanveer Singh top scored with 32 off just 14 balls and everyone bowled tightly – the pick being Siddarth Mahadevan, who conceded only 1 run in 2 overs.
Winning by 96 runs, the U10 Girls dominated against Thames Ditton. Hrisha Shah and Riya Chintam scored 23 and 20, respectively, while Lyla Gammage bowled exceptionally well, taking 4 wickets during her two overs and going for just 2 runs. As well as her fine efforts with the bat, Hrisha also took 3 wickets for 7 runs with the ball.
It wasn’t to be for the U12s, as they lost by 36 runs to Wycombe House. However, Arhaan Khan had a good day with bat and ball, as he took 1-16 off 4 overs and scored an unbeaten 21 off 17 balls.
Outstanding batting from Liam O’Connor, who scored 87 not out off 51 balls, and Samarth Sheth, who hit 77, led the U15Bs to a resounding 62-run win against Twickenham. Four Sunbury bowlers picked up a wicket, while Vivaan Singh was the most economical – his 2 overs going for only 5 runs.
A brutal batting performance saw the U17s ease past Indian Gymkhana by 80 runs. Matt Gillespie, Tyrone Visvakula and Aryan Mittra all retired not out after making quick-fire half-centuries, as Sunbury posted 233-2. Osman Zahir was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 7 runs in his 2 overs.
Tuesday 1st July
It was a simple win for the U10s, who bowled Richmond out for 72 and then chased the score down inside 11 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Will Dixon was the standout bowler, taking 4-14 in 2.4 overs, and there were contributions from everyone who batted.
Unfortunately, the U13s fell 27 runs short of their chase against Indian Gymkhana, despite Lucas Cholewa’s excellent innings of 46 and a good spell of 2-16 off 4 overs from Arpanjot Behniwal.
Ham & Petersham proved no trouble for the U14s, as they came out on top by 88 runs. Everyone that batted made at least 20, with Adhayan Singh and Vayun Jain retiring not out after passing 40. The latter also took 3-12 with the ball, while Rayyan Kashif gave away just 5 runs during his 2.4 overs and picked up a wicket.
The U14 Girls easily beat Thames Ditton thanks to some destructive hitting at the hands of Grace Mansfield. In an excellent knock of 46* off just 17 balls, Grace hit 8 consecutive fours off her last 8 balls. Aniya Chadha also finished 41 not out and took 3 wickets in 5 balls to finish the game.
Wednesday 2nd July
A very one-sided affair saw the U17s demolish Hampton Hill by 121 runs. Matt Gillespie smashed 52 off 30 balls, including a seriously hairy dinger that is yet to land, and Aadit Unni struck an unbeaten 72 from 44 as Sunbury posted 190. Tom Williamson was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-19 from 4 overs, helping to restrict Hampton Hill to 69-8.
Thursday 3rd July
Local rivals East Molesey were beaten by the U15Bs: captain Leo Pearson had an excellent all-round game in taking 1-5 off 2 overs with the ball and retiring not out on 53 off 39 balls. Marlee Sharp (31* off 22) and Avir Patel (28* off 13) also batted really well to get Sunbury over the line with 16 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand.
A superb performance saw the U15 Girls comfortably beat a very strong Ealing side, as spinners Emma Gillespie and Grace Mansfield took 3 apiece and conceded just 21 runs between their 8 overs. Eloise Phillips batted with great skill and composure, scoring 60* off 43 balls, to help Sunbury chase their target of 99 just 2 down in 15.3 overs.
Friday 4th July
A quick game is a good game, as they say, and the U11s certainly took note of that as they hammered Roehampton by 10 wickets. After bowling the hosts out for just 36 runs, Krishna Tichur and Jack Vaney taking 5 and 4 wickets respectively, the target was reached in 2.5 overs – Oli Birch smashing 28* off 11 balls.
Disappointingly, the U12 Girls were defeated by Reigate Priory, despite Kaia Cheung retiring not out on 31 off 25 balls.
In their last league game of the season, the U15s thrashed Hampton Hill by 10 wickets, chasing down their score of 113 in 11.3 overs without loss. Alfie Bloomfield was the standout bowler, taking 1-7 off his 4 overs, while Albert Connors picked up 2 wickets (shock). Rishaan Mehmi retired not out on 50 off 26 balls and Harry Kerridge hit an unbeaten 43 from 31 to seal the win.
