Saturday 9th May
The girls U9s brought back a deserving win from their game at Ashstead, winning by 59 runs with Lily Tindall scoring 47 runs and Sianna Bhatt starting well with 18. With the ball Eliza Fletcher bowled two overs and going for only twelve runs and taking one victim with her.
Sunday 10th May
It was another excellent weekend for Sunbury’s junior section, with victories across multiple age groups and some hugely impressive team performances.
The U8s produced the standout result of the day, overcoming Stoke D’Abernon by 114 runs. Sunbury amassed 149-5 from their 16 overs before restricting the visitors to 70-12 in a superb all-round display. with Ashur Kilner scoring a class 24 and starting the first innings off well. In the second innings Varun Mahadevan bowled beautifully bowling two overs, both being maidens and taking a three-fer.
The U9s also enjoyed success, defeating Stoke D’Abernon by 30 runs after posting 137-11 and then holding the opposition to 112-12. A solid team performance.
Another U9 fixture never got underway, with Sheen Park conceding the match.
The U11s secured an impressive 86-run victory over Staines & Laleham. Sunbury piled up 156 before bowling the visitors out for 70 in the 17th over to complete a commanding win with Zachary Sharma, Harrison Kinge and Adi Sama all retiring with thirties, and Adi Sama taking three wickets in his two overs and only allowing the opponents to score only four off him.
There was more success for the girls section as the Girls U11s defeated East Molesey by 71 runs. Sunbury’s strong batting performance saw them finish on 119-3 before a disciplined display in the field restricted East Molesey to 63-6. Harriet Strelitz scoring a solid 22 and increasing the teams total by a large chunk. With the ball Poppy Davidson bowled well taking two wickets and only going for eight runs.
Unfortunately, the Girls U13s were edged out in a tense contest against Esher. Having been bowled out for 59, Sunbury battled brilliantly with the ball but Esher squeezed home by just one wicket. however Joanna Allan and Dia Kapoor bowled immensely taking 5 wickets between them and having an average economy of just four.
Monday 11th May
The U14s delivered one of the best performances of the week against Barnes. Aarthik Lowmeharan struck an excellent 45, while Maximus Williams made an unbeaten 64 from only 48 balls as Sunbury posted 161-4.
The bowlers then tore through Barnes’ batting line-up, dismissing them for just 42. Aarthik Lowmeharan claimed 2-3 from 2 overs, Eashan Sharma took 2-4, and Deyaan Jangra chipped in with 2 wickets of his own in a comprehensive 119-run victory.
There was another impressive win for the Surrey U14s, who chased down Esher’s 109 with seven wickets to spare. Vyas Pratyush starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets, before Ethan Mathieson anchored the chase superbly with an unbeaten 35. Max Page added a fluent 22 not out as Sunbury completed victory with 10 balls remaining.
Tuesday 12th May
The U15 Surrey side held their nerve to beat Ham and Petersham by 8 runs in a competitive encounter. Vivaan Singh top scored with 26, while Arjan Thandi and Nick Byrne both made useful contributions in Sunbury’s 139-9. Grace Mansfield then stole the show with the ball, taking an outstanding 4-16 from her 4 overs, while Nick Byrne chipped in with 2 wickets. Deyaan Jangra also played a key role at the death, bowling an excellent penultimate over that conceded just a single run, as the hosts were restricted to 131-7.
Wednesday 13th May
The weather had other ideas, as both the U11 fixture against Indian Gymkhana and the Girls U12 match against Woking & Horsell were abandoned without result.
Thursday 14th May
It proved a difficult evening for the U13s against a strong Teddington side. Oscar Barnes battled hard for his 37 from 30 balls, striking 8 boundaries, but Sunbury were bowled out for 74 in reply to Teddington’s 118-2.
Friday 15th May
The U12s produced a brilliant batting display to defeat Fulham by 19 runs.
Adhrit Chadha retired after an excellent 59, but the standout innings came from Ranveer Singh, whose magnificent unbeaten 83 included 10 fours and 5 sixes as Sunbury posted a formidable 193-2.
Fulham fought back strongly in reply through E Lomax’s 80, but disciplined bowling from Luis Wanigesekera (2-26), Will Dixon (2 wickets) and Aryan Sharma helped Sunbury close out the victory.
The U15s completed another dominant performance, defeating Ashford by 9 wickets.
The bowlers set the tone early, with Jacob Rice taking 2 wickets in the opening overs, while Eashan Patel and Jack Marland also claimed 2 wickets apiece as Ashford were restricted to 94-9.
Sunbury then made light work of the chase, reaching their target in just 8.2 overs. Liam O’Connor struck 43 from only 24 deliveries, while Avir Patel made an unbeaten 29 and Jack Marland finished things in style with 13 not out from 6 balls.
