Get Ready for Membership Cards

Read on - or you'll pay the price!

We are pleased to announce the imminent launch of our new digital membership card system which will be implemented by the SSA across all club operations from Friday 31 July 2026.

Every member (Playing, Non-Playing /Social) will be issued a new digital membership card which will help identify members and non-members. The membership card will be part of a club app which can be held on your phone. Members will present their digital card at the bar and the new till system will confirm if they are a paid-up member. This will then charge a lower ‘members bar price’ without any extra work or checks required from the bar staff. Any non-members will pay a higher price as they are not members and don't have cards.

You will able to download the club app from Monday 27 July. In the meantime, please see our FAQ below for more details.

Why do we need a membership card?
The Sunbury Sports Association (SSA) is a members-only organisation. To be part of the SSA you must be a paid-up member of one if its affiliated clubs. A membership card is essential for the SSA to distinguish members from non-members and for members to be able to prove their membership. The SSA are introducing digital membership cards to overcome the many problems that come with issuing physical cards.

How do I get a membership card?
All registered members who have paid their appropriate membership fee will be sent an email link to download the ‘Club Key’ app onto their phones. The app contains your unique digital membership card and QR code. It is therefore essential that you have a valid email address registered with your club administrator (this will be your Pitchero account for cricket club members. Go to: Your Account / Membership Info). Emails containing the link will be sent from Monday 27 July so it’s important you react as soon as you receive it.

Are spouses and partners still covered by the membership card?
Yes. Traditionally, membership (playing or social) includes the named ‘paying member’ and their spouse or partner. This will continue. However, spouses/partners will need to have their own digital card to prove their membership so they will need to be registered as well. Forms to add spouses/partners will be available at the bar.

Will I need to show my digital card when I come to the clubhouse?
That’s very likely. If you wish to buy drinks from the bar you will be asked if you are a member and you will need to show your membership card QR code. When the QR code is scanned it will show on the till that you are a member. You may also be asked at other times by bar staff or club officers for general checking purposes.

What’s the benefit of being a member?
Apart from the fact that the SSA is a members-only organisation, at the time we launch the new digital membership cards we are also introducing dual pricing at the bar. This means that members will pay less for their drinks than non-members.

Does this mean bar prices will be going down for members?
No. Bar prices are already at a subsidised members price but non-members currently enjoy the same discounted price as members. From now on, non-members will pay a higher price more in line with normal pub prices.

Can members still bring guests and will they pay the members’ price or the higher price?
The policy for bringing guests is unchanged (maximum of two guests per member) but they must be signed in using the guest book which is kept on the bar. The only non-members who should be in the clubhouse or on the ground are visiting players/teams or people attending booked functions or events. Anyone else would need to be signed in as a guest of an existing member. All guests and visiting non-members will pay the higher price for drinks at the bar.

Will cricket juniors have a membership card?
No. Junior cricketers will be covered by the ‘family membership’ of the respective parent/adult paying their membership fee. We are not introducing dual pricing for soft drinks so they will not be penalised. If a paying parent member has children aged 18 or above, those children will require their own membership.

Will everyone have the same type of membership card?
Yes, all members of all the affiliated SSA clubs - playing or social – will have the same membership card on the Club Key app.

What about members who don’t have smart phones or struggle with apps?
A physical membership card will be available for those who would prefer one. This will still need to be scanned at the bar in the same way as the digital card.
