News from Alex Hughes and Darren London

First of all, we hope everyone is keeping well and staying safe.

With the vaccines starting to be rolled out, we sincerely hope 2021 brings us a little more enjoyment than 2020! On this note, we have a few exciting off-season announcements to make ahead of the 2021 season.

5th XI
We are delighted to have entered a 5th XI into a full Surrey Championship season for the first time in the club’s history. Further great news is that they will use the excellent facilities at nearby St James’ School in Ashford for their home matches - huge thanks to John Ventham who was instrumental in making this arrangement with the school.

Thanks to Outgoing Captains
We’d like to thank outgoing captains Justin Granger and Scott Napier for the outstanding jobs they have done in captaining the 2nd and 3rd XIs respectively over the last 2 seasons.

Justin was a key part of bringing through a number of promising young cricketers through the 2nd XI whilst maintaining some solid league positions in the 2nd XI Premier Division, despite fielding a team largely made up of U19s on numerous occasions.

Scott also achieved some impressive results for the 3rd XI in their Premier Division despite hugely varied availability and his ever upbeat attitude was instrumental in getting the best out of his players.

We thank both Justin and Scott for the huge amount of time and effort that have given over the last 2 seasons and hope to see them continue to play a key part in adult cricket over the coming years.

Selection Policy
Please see the following link to the updated selection policy for 2021. With 5 adult league XIs and numerous Sunday teams we envisage we should be able to offer plenty of playing opportunities to all our members. It should be pretty self explanatory but we were keen to make the selection policy public so that all members are aware of this. Adult Selection policy.

Pathway & Expectations from Colts to Adult Cricket
Please see the following link to the updated colts pathway for 2021. This is aimed to assist colts and their parents in gauging when is best to make the step up to adult cricket but please don’t hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions. Colts pathway policy.

We hope to be in touch with details for any form of pre-season we may be able to squeeze in, however as you can imagine everything is very COVID-dependent at the moment.

Have a great Christmas.

Alex and Darren
