Sunbury won the Surrey Championship T20 for the first time beating Ashtead and Weybridge in the finals day at Normandy.
In the semis Ashtead rattled up 161-6 in their 20 overs but were hit by some big hitting from Adam London and Sam Burgess as Sunbury dominated the Ashtead bowling reaching the target for the loss of just opener Ollie Roland-Jones, London finishing on 91* and Burgess on 46* with 35 balls to spare.
In the final against Weybridge Sunbury’s bowling and fielding was outstanding as they restricted local rivals Weybridge to 126 from 20 overs (Ishy Sohi 3-28, Kevin Smith 2-15). In reply Sunbury notched up 95 before losing the first wicket of Roland-Jones (45), making a rare appearance, and with London contributing 46. With just 32 needed for victory it was left to Burgess and Rythym Bedi to see Sunbury over the line from 17.3 overs.
