There are two really special Music Nights at Sunbury Cricket Club in August featuring top class, well-known Texan bands during their European tours, which blues and rock enthusiasts really should not miss.
Fri. 4th Aug. HAMILTON LOOMIS £10.00
This is a welcome return for the brilliant Texan blues guitarist, singer, harmonica player and songwriter who visited the Club five years ago – this is first time since then that we have been able to secure a gig on his annual UK tour. Hamilton was a protégé of the legendary blues artist Bo Diddley and appeared on stage with him as well as performing on his albums. He is sensational performer, and his ‘live’ show is something to behold. Guitar Player magazine wrote if him: “If blues, soul, and rock can be said to form a triangle, you’ll find Hamilton Loomis right in the centre of it.”, and he is one of the young artists at the forefront of bringing blues-based American music into the 21st century and redefining it for a contemporary audience. His album “Ain’t Just temporary” reached No. 7 in Billboard’s Blues Chart. His band features Armando Aussenac (drums, background vocals) and Fabian Hernandez (saxes, keyboards, background vocals). It will be a stunning evening. Tickets are available in advance from the Cricket Club bar or contact Paul Watts at the address below. There’s full information about him at www.hamiltonloomis.com and loads of ‘live’ videos on www.youtube.com
Fri. 25th August JIM SUHLER & MONKEY BEAT £10.00
At long last, we have the chance to present the brilliant Texan band Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat, a Dallas-based outfit who play a hard-hitting and highly distinctive brand of blues/rock. Jim Suhler tours regularly as guitarist with George Thorogood & The Destroyers, so comes with the highest credentials. They are visiting Europe to play at the SwingWespelaar Festival in Belgium, and we have been able to secure a date while they are here. We would not normally do a Music Night on an August Bank Holiday weekend, but this was the only time we could get them, and it was too good an opportunity to pass up. We can absolutely guarantee a great show, and this is another that you really must not miss if you are around and not on holiday. There’s plenty of info and videos at www.jimsuhler.com, and loads of videos on YouTube.
