3rd XI at Sutton – 20 May 2017

Following last weeks impressive win against Walton, the 3XI headed into this game full of confidence looking to make it three wins out of three. With rain forecasted throughout the day, it was a great toss won by Sunbury who opted to bowl first on a slow track.

Opening this weeks attack were James Birch and Mansoor Mirza who immediately made a devastating impact on the game, taking wickets at regular intervals at both ends. The Sutton side found it incredibly difficult to get any sort of partnership going and deal with Mansoors skill and variation, and James’ yorkers (shock). After the opening  20, Sutton found themselves 38-8. Birch and Mansoor finishing up with figures of 3-16 and 5-22 respectively. Emphasising the strength of this sides bowling attack, Plaha and Bains picked up wickets in their first overs. A faultless performance in the field from the lads, apart from Shirsh Bedi who dropped a sitter.

With only 45 runs to win Linky Sharma and Sunny Bajwa made light work of the run chase. Making it a rare 10 wicket victory for the side. Linky 42*.

Again it was another strong performance from this hungry 3XI side. Hopefully we can continue this seasons run with another victory at home against Spencer.
