Our 2016 T20 adventure came to a crashing stop in Salisbury as we lost in the semi-final of the South East group to Tunbridge Wells. Weakened by the loss of Maunders and Roland-Jones Sunbury were asked to bat first on a windy day at South Wilts CC. It needed a strong start from openers Adam London (18) and Sam Burgess (7) but both fell early and Sunbury were quickly 2 down. Nath Gregory (33) and Rhythm Bedi (16) then started a good partnership, but the Tunbridge Wells bowlers never lost control and the innings crept sedately to 140 in 20 overs with contributions from Ishy Sohi (24*) and Rajan Soni (11). Where were the big shots?
The Tunbridge Wells batters then quickly showed where the big shots were as the Sunbury attack was simply taken to pieces. After an early wicket to Sohi Rob Sehmi (72*) and Alex Williams (53) simply took control, with the inevitable result never looking in doubt.
A good crowd of supporters made the trip down to Salisbury on a blustery but eventually very sunny day and made the most of the day out.
