The Club

Sunbury Cricket Club is one of the largest and most vibrant cricket clubs in the South East with its own secluded and attractive ground on the Lower Hampton Road.

On Saturdays, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th XI play in the Shepherd Neame Surrey Championship. This is complemented by an occasional 5th XI who play friendly matches.

Each Sunday the Club fields up to 4 sides which are selected to reflect the strength of the opposition in a varied fixture list. Three of the sides, including the Academy XI (which features a mix of adult and younger colts) are entered in league competitions. The Club also enters four Cup competitions, including the Cockspur Cup and the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy.

The Club also has practice nets which prospective members are encouraged to attend.

The Club is pleased to have a very successful Colts section open to boys and girls of all standards aged between 5 and 17 with the junior colts playing ‘Kwik Cricket’. With some 250 colts, practice sessions are held and matches played most evenings of the week, and on Sunday mornings. Some afternoon matches are held during the school holidays. Amongst the most successful of our former colts are Richard Johnson of Somerset and England and David Nash of Middlesex. Many former colts play in and captain the senior sides and serve on the Committee.

New members - playing and non playing - will find a very warm welcome at Sunbury Cricket Club this season. We are keen to recruit new players of all ages and abilities from those who are interested in playing high standard competitive league cricket on Saturdays to those who want a gentle 'run-out' on a Sunday. All prospective new members should contact Penny Hughes, Club Secretary, in the first instance, just click the link to e-mail and an application form can also be obtained from the downloads link in the menu.
